In an Australian first, R U OK? and Taste of Sydney Collective are joining forces with celebrity chefs Dan Hunter (Brae) & Sam Pinzone (Dandelion) to launch a pop-up charity restaurant that will open its doors for one day only on 10 November at The Cutaway, Barangaroo Reserve to raise funds to support R U OK?’s work starting life-changing conversations.
Chefs Dan Hunter and Sam Pinzone, will combine their passion for food, conversation and this cause to create a delicious menu and design a special one-off dish for the R U OK? restaurant that’s made to be shared while having a meaningful chat with loved ones.
A percentage of the proceeds from the restaurant will fund R U OK?’s campaigns and resources and help them continue working toward their vision of a world where we’re all connected and are protected from suicide.
“Whether you’re a foodie or not, tough times can sometimes wear us down. That’s why R U OK? has teamed up with Taste Collective, to get people together to share a meal and a meaningful chat. Because a problem shared is a problem halved, and a great place to start is by asking, ‘Are you OK?’”
“Eight people per day take their own lives in Australia. So, how do we reduce that number? We need people to check in and talk about life’s ups and downs – not just on R U OK?Day, but 365 days a year.
“We’re really proud to launch this charity restaurant at Taste Collective, it’s a unique way to start more conversations, and we hope to replicate the idea across the country.”
