Our latest example of experimental indulgence will be on show in the form of the Oakflight Selection—six half bottles of merlot aged fifteen years, all identical except… they were each aged fifteen months in a different oak barrel (American, Hungarian, Nevers, Troncais medium toast, Troncais medium plus toast, and a blend). Tasted side by side they provide an insight into the effects and complexity of oak treatment—just one of the infinite variables in the magic of winemaking.
