E.P. & L.P.

Asian

OVERVIEW

Situated along the iconic culinary corridor of Melrose Avenue and La Cienega Blvd in West Hollywood, E.P. is a modern multi-level Asian eating house showcasing contemporary Southeast Asian cuisine by 31-year-old Aussie-Fijian Executive Chef Louis Tikaram—Australia’s 2014 Josephine Pignolet Young Chef of the Year. L.P. is the large format rooftop deck touting breathtaking views of the Hollywood Hills set for al fresco dining late into the night. Adjacent to L.P. sits Frankie’s private bar, an intimate venue for private gatherings with a bespoke handcrafted cocktail program. Tikaram’s culinary direction is an amalgamation of his Fijian-Chinese heritage, native Australian roots, and extensive travels across Southeast Asia. His menu blends these flavors with Southern California’s world-renowned produce to showcase healthy, seasonal ingredients with smoky flavors from a wood-fired grill, high heat wok stir-frys, and basket steaming.

E.P. ASIAN EATING HOUSE

E.P.’s contemporary Southeast Asian food ($4 – $56) is Chef Tikaram’s modern riff on traditional Asian recipes ranging from small plates to larger family-style offerings. The whole menu is designed for sharing to balance the complex flavors of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy. The menu intermixes ingredients and techniques that Chef Tikaram has experienced firsthand throughout his travels and the chefs that have inspired him—such as fresh turmeric & galangal, exotic spices, Roasted Rice, hand squeezed Coconut Milk, wood grilling & Wok tossing—infused with SoCal flavor to create his next chapter in Los Angeles. The second-level 3,400 square-foot dining room also features an open kitchen equipped with a custom wood grill and green onyx chef’s table and copper chef’s counter. The restaurant also serves an Asian-inspired Sunday Brunch menu. A sampling of the modern Asian menu includes:

  • Nama Sea Pearls, seaweed ceviche with fresh coconut milk, lime, and chili
  • Chiang Mai Larb, spiced salmon, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, and cabbage
  • Lou Dogg’s Crispy Skin Chicken, a half Mary’s organic chicken with black vinegar, chili, and lemon

Designed by Projects of Imagination (POI), an interior design firm responsible for some of Australia’s hottest restaurants and hospitality destinations, E.P. & L.P. represents trendsetting design in which every element is handcrafted and bespoke. Guests first arrive at a reception area from which they may take an elevator or dramatically-styled staircase to the second-level E.P. dining room that features custom-designed and handcrafted furniture, a prominent freestanding copper-clad bar and open chef’s kitchen bordered by a green onyx dining counter. Antique mirrors, neon signage, copper fixtures, and rolling LED art piece create visual excitement.
